Vitalik Wants Ethereum Nodes To Be Easier To Run
Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum should simplify node setup by pulling the network's execution and consensus software closer together, part of a broader push to make self-hosted verification practical for more users.
Vitalik Buterin says Ethereum should make node operation easier by reducing the split between the software users run for the network's execution layer and consensus layer. In a new proposal, he argues that the current setup asks ordinary users to manage two moving parts where one would be easier to maintain.
Today, people who want to run their own Ethereum infrastructure usually need separate clients, separate setup, and time to keep the two sides in sync. That pushes many users toward hosted providers instead. Ethereum stays open in principle, but day-to-day verification starts to concentrate in the companies that supply access, data, and transaction routing.
