The Foundation Writes Down Its Limits
A stronger Ethereum starts with a weaker center of command. The latest Foundation mandate says the Foundation should guide the network without trying to sit above it.
The Ethereum Foundation published a formal mandate that answers a question large crypto systems cannot avoid. What is the institution for once the network outgrows the room that built it? The answer is narrow and disciplined: protect decentralization, keep users in control of assets, and build so the chain can survive leadership turnover.
Ethereum now carries too much value and coordination to lean on vague goodwill. Once a network gets large, people start testing where real authority lives. A mandate draws a line before that pressure hardens. The Foundation is saying its job is to push power outward into open infrastructure, public goods and shared rules, even when central control would feel simpler.
