Foundation Expands Treasury Staking
The Ethereum Foundation added 22,517 ETH across 11 transactions, taking its staked treasury to about $50 million under the policy it laid out last year.
The Ethereum Foundation staked another 22,517 ETH on Monday, worth about $46.2 million at the time, according to on-chain data cited by Decrypt. The deposits were split into 11 transactions of 2,047 ETH each. Together with its earlier staking move, the Foundation has now put 24,623 ETH, roughly $50 million, into validators.
For years, the Foundation was mainly judged by when it sold ETH. Now it is also trying to earn native yield from the network it stewards. The shift was laid out in the treasury policy the Foundation published last June. Decrypt reports that the plan calls for broader use of staking and DeFi in order to strengthen the organization's financial sustainability. The Foundation ultimately intends to stake around 70,000 ETH, with rewards flowing back to its own operations and ecosystem work.
