Ethereum client teams are testing a Fast Confirmation Rule that could cut some L1-to-L2 and exchange deposit waits from about 13 minutes to roughly one block without a hard fork.

Ethereum client teams are testing an opt-in Fast Confirmation Rule that could let some layer-2 networks and exchanges treat mainnet deposits as safe after about 13 seconds instead of waiting around 13 minutes.

The point is not to make full finality arrive faster. It is to replace loose operator habits with a clearer rule for when one block is enough.
